Independent Primary schools near Marylebone, London

Hi,
We're moving to Marylebone, London, in August and I'm looking into options for my children's schooling. I have a 4 yo currently in reception and a 3 yo who will need a nursery place.
Does anyone know the Marylebone area and if so, could you recommend any good mixed independent primary schools not too far away? Ideally not more than a 15 min drive.

Where are you moving from? Friends send their kids to the American School in London (St John's Wood), which they are very happy with.

I think Wetherby is in Marylebone itself but is boys only.

Can I recommend that you get a copy of the Good Schools Guide (North London)?

We're moving from St Albans, so not very far. Ideally we're looking for a mixed school- since we have a girl and a boy.
The girl is already 4, so she will need to enter year 1 and not reception..

Ah, I see. I don't know west London as well as I should but off the top of my head:

Devonshire House (Hampstead)
The Academy (Hampstead)
Trevor Roberts (Swiss Cottege)
St Paul's Cathedral

are all mixed and near(ish) Marylebone. SPCS would probably be a tube ride rather than a car journey though.

In the City / very south Islington / very south Hackney, there are Dallington, Charterhouse Square and The Lyceum. These are all mixed but might be more of a nuisance to get to from Marylebone (although I may be wrong).

In Marylebone directly there is a single mixed independent. Starts at reception and only to 7 for boys - Connaught House School. There is also Chepstow House in Paddington area which is mixed. Probably best to start on then isc website where you can do a search by postcode and distance. Something to bear in mind is that 15 minutes travel does not take you far in London school traffic....

Notting Hill prep mixed and next to Ladbroke Grove tube - if you're near Baker Street then that will be 15 mins

There is a very active Marylebone Mums group on Facebook so you could try posting there for more advice. Beware the "education consultants" who will try to charge you money to share info with you!

There are a lot of schools within a 15 min drive though it very much depends which side of Marylebone you live on as traffic is bad there.

For mixed I think Connaught house is probably an excellent starting point.

Thank you all! Yes, so far we have been in touch with Connaught house, Abercorn and Devonshire house. We've booked visits so maybe we'll know a bit more after that. Any immediate thoughts? Do these schools differ in any specific way (apart from size..)?

The only one of those I have seen was Devonshire House. An old boss's son goes there and I know that he and his wife are very happy with it.

abercorn has various campuses so different ages may be in different locations. it seems to be a bit transient, people who are here for 1-2 years, though I am sure there are long stayers too.

devonshire house - the traffic up fitzjohns ave to get there in the mornings can be horrific as there are just so many schools in that small area.
