Hello, I am undecided between the 2 schools and am wondering if anyone has any direct experience or advice about either/both schools? Preparation would be needed for the Perse Upper entrance exam (next January) and would anyone be able to recommend a tutor? I have also posted this in Secondary education. Many thanks.

I don't live locally any more so can't be specifically helpful, but I'm struck by how very different they are as types of school and I'm surprised you'd consider both a good fit for the same child.

It also certainly used to be the case that boys and girls at the Perse had different kinds of experiences there. Can you tell us more about your child - likes/dislikes/talents/interests/motivation etc?

Many thanks Mrs Hathaway for your speedy response. My child likes music, sports, maths and I think would enjoy the academic challenge (assuming he is selected).

Comberton is a fantastic school - My son went there and achieved 13 straight A* at GCSE . I cannot praise the school enough. My god son goes to the Perse and isn't expected to achieve the same kind of results but is still doing well. The Perse do really well on league tables and was listed as 10 best independent sixth form in 2016 results. Its swings and roundabout I guess but I'm glad my Son went to CVC

Comberton is on this year's Tatler's best state schools list:
