I let mine walk home (half mile walk with lollypop lady) at around 8.

When they moved to middle school at 9 they walk alone anyway - loads of other kids and some parents en route so not as if walking down quiet, dark streets alone.

We're in N London. So I let them start walking home alone in Y5 (about 10). Normally in the Spring or Summer term. Then Y6 they walk home alone all year.

btw QE... I thought you were gone?

Mine want to walk home alone, I keep putting it off. Y6 and Y3. it will be the only time they are at same Primary school. After July my eldest will be going to secondary.

I think ill meet them half way and they do it in stages.

Thanks.
