The Beacon in Amersham - views please?

Really interested to hear views on The Beacon in Amersham. Have had a tour and interested for either year 2 or year 3 entry. Keen to know what the cohort is like, what the pastoral care is like, do you have to be a certain 'type' to enjoy being there?

Good all-rounder school. Strong on music, drama, DT. Not academically pushy. Not for special needs. Middle of the road.

Not academically pushy?? Really? Most parents I know have sent boys there to get to a grammar school or a very decent independent school. They have standards to maintain and parents expect a bit of academically pushy. It is not a school for the academically average. The majority are high achievers and go on to appropriate schools. Look at the destinations list for leavers.
