Beckenham primary schools

We are just doing primary school applications. Our nearest schools are Clare House and the Harris Academy. Does anyone have children who go there and if so, what do you think? I'm particularly interested in whether they include a lot of music and sport in the curriculum.

Visit both... You need to work out what suits you and your child. We live locally and go to a different school- Bromley road ( lovely). Clare is considered one of the best in the area - tiny catchment and I heard thus year only a very few non siblings. But then I hear people who visited Clare house and thought it to strict and didn't list it. Harris is new ish only launched 2 years ago I believe. It was our back up and I wouldn't have been unhappy with it. I hear of parents who are very happy with it.

Clare House is a lovely school

I teach in a state primary very local to both, but particularly Clare House. I know people who work there and really like it; also Harris Academy. Certainly from a teacher's point of view Clare House sounds like the best place to work- I realise that this isn't too helpful as a parent. If I had to chose a place for my own child I'd probably go for Clare House.

I think you need to go and visit both schools. Are you meaning Harris Beckenham or Harris Beckenham Green? I know all three schools pretty well and in your position would probably go for Harris Beckenham (lovely head and staff team). I personally don’t rate Clare House at all. DM me if you like

Thanks so much to both. So your friends are happy teaching at both schools? Are the Heads kind to their staff? I do think that reflects on the ethos of the school as a whole.
