Wimbledon mums please help: the Study versus Wimbledon High School

Hi Wimbledon mums
Do you have a view on the two schools mentioned above? What are the pros and cons?

I had personal experience with WHS only and would recommend. The teaching was mostly very good, challenging, inspiring teachers, excellent head, lots of different activities, sport, music, trips, etc. The biggest pro is easy transition to the seniors if you looking to continue to seniors.

My nieces attended the Study. The 2 eldest had a great time & achieved well. The youngest didn't get on, she is dyslexic & the Study does not appear to cope well with this. Her parents pulled her out and tried other schools & she is now doing extremely well after getting the right support. This was about 6 years ago, it could have changed.

In terms of children, would you say it is a pretty similar mix of girls / families at both schools?

I think quite similar, most WHS junior girls live very near the school. But as WHS is selective and Study is not (ballot) you would probably get more equal ability levels at WHS. Quite a few Study girls join WHS later on in seniors though, so I would guess the difference is not that great. Cannot comment on support for dyslexia, etc as did not have any personal experience.
Re pre-school, there are a few around Wimbledon. There is Wimbledon Montessory in the village, two preschools based around St.Marks church, depending if you are looking for school hours only or full time nursery/preschool place. Bishop Gilpin preschool is very popular (does not give any preference on entry to reception, but attended by many local children who will go to other schools).

I meant Lingfield road, the one next to Wimbledon museum. Oaktree nursery on the grounds of St Mary's church has a good reputation too.

Personally I would recommend the Montessori on Spencer Hill v highly.
The obvious difference between Study/WHS is the transition to seniors as mentioned above. The Study sends girls to a much wider group of senior schools. Depends if you are after a switch at 11.
