Selective vs non selective primary

Please help! I have been losing sleep over trying to make a decision between stormont (all girls non selective) and manor lodge (coed selective). This is for my daughter but I have a younger son which I've been taking into consideration. I really really love stormont as I think it's nurturing and has amazing clubs and extra curricular activities and i believe my daughter would thrive in that environment. I also like manor lodge because it has a great academic record and my children could go together. Really looking for absolutely anything that could help make my mind up. Thank you!!!!

You need to be really sure both DC will fly in a selective- it can be a rough ride for the bottom end.

Don't assume that because you are academic the DC will be. DH and I are both Oxbridge educated and have post graduate degrees, but our sensitive, 6yo August born DS would be crushed by a selective Prep. He is absolutely thriving in a lovely non-selective. We would have had no idea at 2-3 that he would need that environment.

Hi sisterviktorine, I completely agree which is why I'm struggling as the alternative means that she would go to an all girls school leaving my son with limited options and potential logistical issues. Manor lodge has a sibling policy and they do stream which means there clearly are varying abilities... my heart is saying stormont because of how lovely and nurturing it is but my mind is telling me to think about my son and also about how a single sex education could impact them negatively

Why would a single sex school be a negative??
