My DD 8 doesn't struggle to read but is only just starting to see that it is enjoyable to read a book. She says that she likes to read the secret kingdom books but these are a little easy for her now. Does anyone have suggestions for similar in terms of story but a bit more challenging.

I know my DD went on to read ' Sophie and the shadow woods'
But I couldn't tell you if they are more challenging.

Magic Faraway Tree books?

I'm interested too - my DD is girly and has enjoyed Secret Kingdom and would prefer stories about princesses, fairies and magical animals, rather than those about witches or naughty children at school, but is ready for more of a challenge.

May be worth posting in the children's books topic as well, if you haven't already done so.

My DD is 9 (Y4) and enjoyed reading the Dork Diaries series, any Jacqueline Wilson, Diary of a Wimpey Kid series. She now loves anything by Michael Morpurgo and is working her way through the Harry Potter. series.
