Where to live for Eaton House Belgravia?

Hi - we live in East London and our 2 year old has a confirmed place in Eaton House Belgravia for 2017. Interested in views on the school from parents who are sending their children to EHB already . What is a good place to relocate to ? The obvious areas like Pimlico etc. are extremely expensive, so looking for pointers on the best areas to move to.

Is there anywhere not very expensive around this school? Where did you imagine you could move to? Hammersmith might be cheaper or Shepherds Bush. Long commute though.

Why not register for Eaton House The Manor instead? Same family of schools and goes all the way up to Year 8 (boys) and Year 6 (girls). EH Belgravia doesn't go beyond Year 3 or 4 I think? Lots then come down to EH The Manor. Also, in a (slightly!) cheaper area with lots and lots of families. Great school.

You are moving house for a pre-prep? Why??

Thanks everyone.. probably Parsons Green. House move was due anyway and not a lot of good schools ( state or private) where we are at the moment. We haven't registered for Eaton H Manor .. so it's probably late to get a spot there. Anyone with any experience of the EHB? The results seem very good but we haven't met the school yet, so would be keen to hear from parents whose children are studying there presently.

I would suggest Parsons Green/Peterborough Estate

Both my husband and I commute to the city and do long hours ..hence looking at good schools allowing us a reasonably short commute. All achools in the city are expensive..we are looking at schools In St. John's Wood as well but it's actually far pricier..

If you work long hours who will drop off pick up? I think if you are buying a house based on schools you need to have your eye on senior schools, unless you plan for your DC to board and even then you will still want to be in the right side of London for easy access.

You'll probably find people with children in St. John's Wood schools can be more north, so house prices won't be that much different.

We had the same problem as you - lived in East London, with confirmed EHB place. We have since moved to North London - which we found bought us more space for our money and opens up loads of really good schools. We wont be taking up our space. For EHB, we considered moving to Putney or Southfields - which is 20-30minutes on the district line. But there are also really good schools there e.g. Merlin and the wimbledon pre-preps, which also boast really great results. I'd pick the best location to live that you can afford and go for the best pre-prep/prep in that area or easily commutable from that area

Thanks! That's helpful. Would it be possible to share where in N London you decided to base yourselves / which school ? I'll message privately (if that's ok ?) . Merlin - might be too late for us to register. Will take a look. I think we are finding that we are limited to the schools we applied to about 2 years ago!
The additional trouble with N London is that the private schools we have applied to, seem to be based on assessments at a 3+ age ( and very serious assessments!) which happen only next year, making any kind of futuristic planning impossible.

Chocolateface : thanks . Parsons Green is our top choice at the moment also given that the school runs a school bus facility from there. Any other A streets you would recommend within Parsons G ? Any experience with the school ?
LynnetteS : We will likely require a nanny to do the pick up from school. Yes senior schools is a consideration but one can only plan so much! He won't be boarding definitely.

As you have a place at EHB you may be able to transfer place over to EHTM as same group of schools. Easier then to find place to live and don't have to change schools again after pre-prep. Just a though.
