Talk to the teacher?

DD (4) has been doing half days for the last few weeks; today was her first full day. It transpires that she is avoiding the loos (because the seats don't come together at the front, FWIW). As far as we can tell, she has used the loos at school once. She's an unreliable witness, but she does have form for holding it in for phenomenal lengths of time and was bursting at pick up time today.

So, do I
a) tell her that of course she can use the loos at school and she's a silly banana if she doesn't (which I already have done)?
b) have a word with the teacher tomorrow morning?
c) email the teacher (whose email address I have because I've volunteered to help)?

Not got the hang of being a reception parent yet!

When I started school, I couldn't go to the loo! I made myself sick and sent home.

Yes, talk to the teacher, and gentle encouragement may make her life so much easier.

Don't email the teacher unless you've been invited to for this sort of issue (e.g. it's not usual practice in my school, although it might be encouraged at others). Grab her for a moment at the beginning/end of the day (whatever is the school's preference) and explain in person.

A which you've already done following up with B either at start or end of day! Given the issue start of day would be better!! They will no doubt be able to assist! Bless her!

Word with teacher has been had, which was easier than expected - I imagined it would be harder to grab his attention in the scrum for coat hooks. They're going to encourage / keep an eye and we'll see where we are this afternoon. Bribery has also been promised at pick up time!

It's good you've managed to speak to the teacher - they'll be used to children having concerns like these so don't worry. Just wanted to say I used to HATE those sorts of toilets as a child so she has my full sympathy!
