What do you do with your kids old shoes?

I've seen a few charities that donate shoes to Africa but one that caught my attention was Sal's shoes which sends shoes directly to children/people in Africa. Is this a good organisation to send shoes to or can anyone recommend a better one?
I think it's such a good idea

Usually if they're in good condition I'll keep them for whichever child they'll fit next. Lately though my oldest childs shoes just need to be chucked as totally wrecks them. Or if I'm having a mad clean out everything goes to charity.

I have seen a charity shoe box in shoe zone but I don't recall the name or where they were being sent.

DDs go to the little girl over the road from us, both DS shoes for some reason are in no fit state to send anywhere but the bin by the time they're done. No idea how, they all play out and get worn as much.

We have my eldest child's shoes to shoezone but that was probably 10 years ago now.. I'll have to go back to see if they still take them. If not I think I'll donate them to Sal's shoes. They have collection points all over the UK.

It's like that with my 5yr old too, his shoes usually end up destroyed after the first half term of school [shock}

bloody football ruins shoes! That and scooters/bikes, I keep telling DS he has brakes for a reason but the toes of his trainers seem to be the go to option.

Yes. Our school has just collected 100 pairs for sal's shoes. Think it's a very good idea.

Give them to the Salvos (they have collection skips) and they distribute to families in need locally. I don't live in the UK though.

We had them on to a number of friends with younger DC along with everything else. Similarly 90% of my DC shoes are hand me down s

My local Save the Children shop takes them.

Sal's shoes amazing. WE had a collection at the end of the summer term at our school, everyone allowed in in trainers and could hand in their old school shoes. Sal's shoes came and collected them all, and sent a lovely letter and photos when they were distributed. It was brilliant,the kids loved it.

Good to know, I have collected 4 pairs of shoes so far and hopefully will be dropping them of soon. That's nice of them, it would be lovely to see which kids got the shoes.

I know there are drop of points around the UK but do you know how many pairs of shoes you have to have to have them collect the shoes?

That's amazing, this charity honestly seems just amazing and I am happy to donate shoes to this wonderful charity. 750,000 pairs of shoes in under 3 years is just increadible. x

We'll happily find new feet for all child-appropriate footwear (eg no heels) regardless of size
