What books for gold/white/lime band?

I'm looking at extending our school reading resources, especially improving the books we have at gold, white and lime level. Does anyone have any recommendations? I've been looking at the Collins Big Cat which could be an option but just trying to find opinions first?
Anything that works well in your school or any books that children really enjoy. DS1 is 13 now and he read a range of treetops books which were ok. We do encourage library books and additional reading too, luckily we have a quite well stocked library.

My ds's school signed up for bug club for KS1.
I think it was ideal no matter how many children at same level, they can assign same books to them, since it's e-books rather than actual books.
Also it came with comprehension question, so teacher(and parents) can check how well children are understanding while reading a book.
My ds loved reward system as well.

Does it have to be a scheme? Can't you use real books? DS is currently on White at school and enjoys real books a lot more than scheme books (with some exceptions)

I'd hazard a guess that a there are a few series about that are around those levels. That would save you having to find too many individual books. I don't know, Rainbow Fairies, Horrid Henry, The Magic Treehouse, Flat Stanley, ... get the first 4/6/10 books of a few such series, they are often available cheaply. Perhaps 'I Wonder Why' series for non-fiction? Add in some poetry, drama.

(I do understand that most such series are terribly formulaic. But let's face it, so are many scheme books!)

I definitely prefer real books and we do have quite a well stocked library that the children use. There are Horrid Henry and Rainbow Fairy books in there. I will look at Flat Stanley. Suppose I was looking for something quite simple to just order and add to the boxes. The collins big cat have packs with about 18 books in for £68...
