Schools in Brighton

Hi
We will be moving to Kemp Town from Oxford at the end of the year and have two school age children. They are currently in Year 1 and Year 8. Please could any local mummies help guide me through the primary and secondary schools. I have tried to find information but it all seems quite out of date so any help would be gratefully received! I am aware that the Education dept. will allocate places wherever they are available but it's always helpful to have a little ammunition 🙂

I don't live in Brighton but not too far away. I don't know about year 1 but for secondary the popular two are usually full. The unpopular one isn't usually full. If you are going private this won't matter to you I guess. The unpopular one seems to have a "worse" reputation but I have no first hand knowledge of this, except that last year I enquired about a place for my year 8 in the popular two and was basically told - no chance...
