What charities does your school support?

I was wondering what charities your child's school support on mufti days, charity fairs, cake sales ect?

The sixth form at dd's school choose a charity or two and organise fundraising throughout the school. Generally there is some sort of link to the school or a pupil or teacher so Cancer Research, our local hospice, CLIC sargent have been recent ones. This year's charities haven't been announced yet.
The whole school has mufti days and cake sales for Children in Need and Comic and Sport Relief besides.

My SN's sons school seems to do the most fundraising especially for children in need/comic relief. My youngest twos school doesn't seem to do very much for charity at all, they have probably two mufti days a year and one cake sell. My son is now in Y1 and last year they did nothing for children in need
I was wondering if other schools did fundraising for charities apart from children in need and comic relief which are both great charities. My SN's son has done a mufti day for sports relief + a sport day, a cake sale for children in need, a school fete for riding for the disabled and a school disco in aid of the special needs foundation. My 14yr old DD's school however does hardly anything apart from rag week which this years charity is teenage Cancer trust and a few mufti days. Perhaps it varies in each school, I always did loads of different fundraising when I was at school, we always had charity events every month or so.

I have looked into Mary's meals and am hoping to do some of the backpacks very soon!
I wish they ran the sceme through one of the my kids' schools.
Is it a catholic charity? not that would bother me one little bit just curious.

Dd's school don't have mufti days or any fun ever

They force the year 7s to to a 3k run in the middle of summer and split the money raised between cancer research and the group of schools the school belongs to

That's tight, you'd think they'd atleast do a school fete or something once a year.

Mostly for own school funds but we support Children in Need days and Sports relief. Also the newly refurbished toilets were twinned.

What is mufti?

We support children in need and comic relief when they're on plus our local hospice and the key 103 toy appeal at Christmas (a local radio station in Manchester)
We also do a Macmillan coffee morning.
Every thing else is for school funds

Lifeisshort- there is a Catholic connection but they aim to help children of all faiths in poor countries around the world. They give them food whilst they are in school so that the children will attend school thereby ensuring they get an education to help them get out of poverty. Our school does fundraising for Mary's Meals.

Our school supports a variety of charities through the year - they're doing Jeans for Genes (wear jeans, bring £1), usually the same for Children in Need, the products from the harvest service go to the main homeless shelter in Glasgow and to local projects, and they have a regular event to support the local Cancer Research centre which is just down the road and employs several of the parents at school.

Sometimes there will be bake sales for charities suggested by one of hte kids. It's not like DH's work which nominates a pet charity and supports tht all year.

When the kids are allowed to wear clothes from home like jeans and teeshirt. It's a non uniform day.
