Hi

New to all of this. First child.

A few questions if someone can lend a hand.

Is there anyway to find out about local primary schools subscription levels from previous years?

I'm in catchment area for my first choice but worry that if its been previously over subscribed this won't be enough.

Should I do a statement with my application or is this not worth it?

The London boroughs local to me publish all of theirs. Whereabouts do you live?
No point whatsoever in doing a statement. Is your first choice a standard community primary school (ie not a faith school)?

Local council can give you all the info on subscription levels, is normally in website. Give them a call.

Find a house in catchment on rightmove and it tells you all local schools and whether oversubscribed!

Oh and in our area (Trafford) you can call admissions and find out the distance for last admitted child (they don't publish this online)

Thanks for replies. I'm in Cheshire East. I can find last years info, but I was wondering if anything historical further. If there was a website people visit. Maybe just wishful thinking!

School is a Classed as foundation.

My council produce an admissions brochure every year, with a table detailing subscription levels from the last year. Info given is along the lines of school x, PAN x, number of applicants - subdivided into 1st/2nd/3rd preference, criteria applied to last pupil admitted where applicable - so if oversubscribed, it'll say something like "distance 0.5 miles". If undersubscribed, that column's blank.

They only give details of last years subscription levels in this brochure, and only link to the most recent brochure on the admissions page of the council website, but a quick Google of "Council x school admissions booklet + year" is letting me find archived copies of brochures as far back as the brochure for applications to start school in September 2014 (so with details of subscription levels for school year starting September 2013). So might be worth doing a search along those lines in case your council also have the last few year's booklets online.

If you want figures for previous years ask the council or the school. They should both be able to tell you.

There is no point doing a statement to accompany your application. It will be ignored. All that matters is the admission criteria. They are not allowed to make subjective decisions based on how much parents want a particular school.
