Hi I am looking for a private primary school in Herts that will get my son ready for the 5+ for Haberdashers boys - considering Westbrook Hay and York House. Any opinions or better suggestions. I really would like diverse and strong pastoral care but also academic. TIA

Looking at the leavers destinations at York House, I don't think it will be a good choice. Very few seem to go to Habs from York House:

Neither school would prep your child for 5+ as they themselves go up to 11/13 and would expect the child to stay there until one of those natural leaving points.

A private tutor might be a better option or a local day nursery which sends a lot of children onto Habs.

Abbot's hill, Hemel takes boys for nursery only. They might prepare a boy for an entrance exam. It's a girls school so would not be offended when you decide to send your son elsewhere. It's nursery is very girl heavy.

I don't know if Norfolk Lodge would keep them for reception year but I think they send a lot to preps in the area...
