Silly little issues

My DD has had some pretty minor incidents at school which personally I would have dealt with myself but the other children's mothers have felt the need to go to the school and talk to the teachers about.
Now the shoe is on the other foot and it's the same parent involved, I'm not sure how to handle it. I would normally have just had a quiet word with the child's mother directly but as that curtasey wasn't shown to me i'm tempted to play tit for tat and go and see the teacher myself.
On the other hand my cousin in a head and says she sees parents like the other mother as a bloody pain in the arse and when they actually have got something to complain about it dilutes their reaction.
HELP !!!

If the issue is over something that happened in school, I would go and see the teacher.
If it happened outside school, I would speak to the parent directly.
