Does anyone's school use Talk for Writing and would you mind sharing your experiences of it particularly with regard to children who can already write very well for their age, do they still make progress, do they like it, do they switch off etc.

thanks

It's really seems from what you say your child's school is focusing on the small things rather than what should be the main focus of Talk fir Writing ...which is writing.

that is MY feeling but I wasn't sure quite what the focus was. From what I have seen it does seem to be a bit of a waste of time BUT to be fair there are children making great progress. Perhaps it is more that because of the demographics they are focusing too much on the ones who will benefit from it and not applying it more generally to all children. I will see how it goes next term, I did give feedback at the end of July when I realised how bad it all was in their books and suggested that they asked the children for their feelings on it and perhaps looked at the higher achievers from the previous year and what progress they had made on this. I want to be supportive of their chosen methods but I can't afford for them to turn my children off something they loved and were really good at.

thanks
