Can I please just have a little boast about my DD.
She was practically illiterate at the beginning of year 5. Really struggling due to dyslexia. We were getting nowhere fast with the school really, despite them doing their best, resources and understanding of her condition were scant. As a result of this we got her tuition and were lucky enough to secure a charitable grant to help pay for this alongside touch typing lessons.
I have just received her year six school report and SATs scores - now I know that actually SATs matter not one tiny fuck in the grand scheme of things and judging by the explanatory note accompanying them, were pretty much a clusterfuck this year.
BUT!!!!
My little girl only just missed the standard level in grammar, spelling and punctuation, this was because her spelling score skewed it greatly, otherwise she would have exceeded. She scored ABOVE the standard for reading and just missed the maths.
This is a little girl who was struggling with reception level reading going into year 5. She has worked and worked at her reading and her determination has floored me. She reads every night to DP and reads herself to sleep.
She has received the highest level of effort grades and I am so so proud of her. The only concession she received in her SATs was 20% extra time, which frankly would not have made any difference.
I may have cried!!!
