This has probably been spoken about tonnes of times, but I am trying to get myself organised for my DS starting school in Sept. Do you have any recommendations of where to get nape tapes from? or which ones are best to use?

I use easy2name.

Stuck on you are great, a good selection and the iron on labels and dish washable stick on label actually stay on!

Get the iron on ones and the stickers for water bottle. Not the sew in ones.

Easy2name if you are not certain what you need /want phone them up, the ladies in the office are lovely.

Easy2name for name tapes (I use the new stick on ones for clothes) and Stuck on You for bag tags and shoe stickers.

I like sew in ones best (Cash's). I know they're a faff to put in but they are very versatile and totally bomb proof. I've used them to name water bottles, lunch boxes, shoes, scooters, etc as well as clothes.

I'm in the lost property team on our PTA - we sort the lost property box once or twice a term. At least two thirds have no identifiable markings (includes biro faded to oblivion). Iron on printed labels are good but they do start to peel especially if you use a hot wash.

Label in obvious places. Remember that it's often not you looking for the label, but a harassed TA or teacher, or other parents.

Back of the collar for tops, back of the waist for bottoms.

Boys' shoes can be labelled on the back of the tongue to avoid rubbing off.

Or save yourself the bother and get a sharpie designed for use on fabric - saves hours believe me.

I just bought the cheapest I could find on ebay - vinyl ones for water bottles and sew in ones - and they've been fine.

We've had £15 ones too and they stay on slightly better than the £3 ones, but not 5 times as well :)

A laundry pen is a good investment, for infrequently washed or cheap items.

I have just ordered some sew in ones (more for nostalgia really), we have a sharpie if all things (my sewing) fails!!

I'll have a look at the vinyl ones now though, but I am not quite sure what I will need them for...
