Chapel Allerton, Leeds - good schools?

we're off to look at a house in Chapel Allerton tomorrow but dh is querying whether there are good schools there. I haven't got a clue but I'm guessing the answer is yes?

i love teh area, but its trendy rather than family orientated so you might want to tread carefully. it also borders on quite a rough area so you might want to check our what you're in the catchment area for. I moved to Horsforth because the schools are all really good.

Thanks ladies - we're seeing a house in Horsforth tomorrow too (we live in Cookridge currently). Family-oriented is definitely more us than trendy!

St Matthews is decent, don't know any others there.

keep us posted on how you get on TP. I just enjoy Horsforth more and more. the Juice Bar on town street is buggy central during the week!

Cheers smitten. I like Horsforth as well. But dh is dead set on the Chapel Allerton house It's difficult because he has mobility problems, and the CA place has fewer stairs, and a downstairs loo (and a sun room which can be converted into a bedroom for 'when' - as he puts it - he can't walk upstairs any more). It also has a garage, which is handy. On the other hand, it has more garden to maintain, which he claims he is going to do, but he won't be able to. The Horsforth house has a perfectly adequate garden.

I like the fact there are shops near-ish by and a proper centre in both places (something sadly lacking in Cookridge unless you class a Tesco and a post office as 'where it's at'). But the schools are the killer argument I think - hoping YG will notice this thread!
