I was wondering if any of the teachers on here have any experience of these books and if so I was wondering what the benefits of them are over the traditional ORT scheme, is there any benefit or are they just an introduction to blending and therefore not comparable to ORT?
Thank you

Much better reading scheme for beginner readers matched to the Sounds Write phonics programme. From the onset the child can read the words without needing to guess or use pictures.

PM books are Reading Recovery books intended for children who are struggling. Both ORT (original scheme) and PM require child to use ineffective strategies shocked a school is still using discredited methods.

I just did a quick search for these books as DS has just started on them - I'm losing the will to live with Tim, Tam and Sam already, although I can see that it's great they can decode straight away.

I'm finding it so hard not to add in extra words!
