KS1 SATs sat now - test group questions

My DS has been sitting some of the KS1 SATs papers this week because the government are using them as some sort of test group.

Does anyone know why? Is it to set grade boundaries or something?

Also, is it the same papers that will be sat in May? I assumed not because that would be ripe for cheating, but then if it is for setting grade boundaries, how would they do that with two different tests?

DS sat the reading papers this week as part of the benchmarking. He said it was fine!

I feel like I should be surprised, but somehow I'm not.

We (parents) had a letter telling us not to pass on anything our kids said about the questions. They were doing SPaG early, but letter referring to the other ones too. Kids don't know it's anything special, so no reason they wouldn't talk about it. On the other hand no reason they would either.

They already look silly 🤓😜

I can never remember the questions asked in a test five minutes after it ends. I doubt kids would be able to recall all the questions so I can't see how they could report them all.

Ok, some of the spelling words would be handy to know. They'd probably recall them.

The spelling test was released online so that may have to be voided!

Yes, but it would be inadvisable to even suggest that no-one leaks a test unless they want to be eaten alive by twitter. That probably isn't going to stop them though.

Lucky for them it was a KS1 test really.
