Hi,
I'm looking for some advice on moving my son to another school. He is currently at a very good school in the city, one that people try to get their kids into. This being one of the reasons we rent in the catchment area after moving up from England for my husbands job. Also the reason for moving was that he is Scottish and I wanted our children to know some of their heritage. (I traveled all over as a child and have no real place I call home)
I don't feel the school is right for him, I want him to be happy and the school seems very focused on pushing the kids. He is a bright lad who I feel will learn at his own pace and I don't want his joy of learning squashed.

So we want to move out of the city, on outskirts or outer city. What area has friendly schools and good family areas? Im looking for a good community school and not one focused on acedemia.

Any knowledge would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks Mum to 2 Son 6years and daughter 3 years

You're probably better asking this question in the Scotsnet topic. You'll get more traffic there from people in Scotland.

Also try Mumsnet local for Edinburgh. Look back over the pages as there are loads of threads about schools. We love a schools thread in Edinburgh so I'm sure you'll get replies if you start a new one.
