St. Albans schools

Hi, we're currently looking at moving to St. Albans and wondered what the general consensus about the fleetville schools were like and the surrounding area. Is it a nurturing school as well as academic.
Also how does it compare to wheat fields or are there other schools seen as more desirable?

Fleetville area is lovely. Only have experience of Fleetville Juniors as we moved DD in Year 4 when we moved to St Albans. The Head is still there and was brilliant with her. She has SEN and the school was extremely supportive throughout her time there. More recently I have heard mixed things about Wheatfields but there will always be some parents who aren't happy. Do bear in mind that school places are in short supply and you will probably need to live close to most schools to get in.

Thank you, we are looking at a few houses in fleetville, laurel road, Arthur street, eaton, Cambridge road. Any info about those road areas? in particular laurel road? Thank you for your advice

They are not roads I know well but there are no bad roads in Fleetville. How old are your DCs? If you will be applying for a reception place, you can have a look on the Hertfordshire website and it will tell you how close you needed to live to get a place in recent years. I think Fleetville Schools are very over subscribed now and you don't want to buy a house there and then not get in

Cambridge road is more the 'camp' area than Fleetville. I'd say north of Hatfield Rd is far nicer and more desirable than south of it (camp area)
