DS really struggling with word problem solving SATs questions despite being able to read well. Have Googled resources but am a bit overwhelmed!

Any recommendations would be appreciated as I fear he is in danger of not meeting standard (or whatever it's called) in SATs.

Have a look at past maths papers - although the SATs have changed this year, there are example word problems that you can use.

cjp have some great practice papers if you can afford to buy some and delivery is VERY fast. That would be my top recommendation.

Here you can practice some word problems for yr6.
You can use this site for free as a "guest" up to 20 question(I think) a day. (Don't need to become a member.)

I have no idea about resources and I don't know if this will be of any help but something I always did was to read what they wanted first (so the end of the question first) and that helped me to decide what I needed to look for before I read everything else if that even makes any sense?? Grin

I would recommend YouTube... I'm a maths teacher and I tell my students to look there as there are tons or resources and someone has possibly done a video solution to the question you need.

There is ' Maths is fun' Not free but it shows All the work a yr six pupil might cover. It has graded problems and stickers and stars etc. It gives you a progress report. I think it is great for young children.
The Khan academy.com is free and is an interactive Maths tutoring site. Again it has graded problems, videos etc. It is supported by Bill Gates.
UTUBE is also great.
