Book character out of a potato ideas!

Mumtogremlins · 21/02/2016 22:13

Yes, the popular book character out of a potato completion again at DDs school. Current ideas are Mr Bump (quite common but easy) or some form of princess. She has to bring in the book too and talk about it

Any ideas very gratefully received!

Supertato!!!

colleysmill · 21/02/2016 22:23

Although possibly not very original!

LIZS · 21/02/2016 22:24

How old is dc? Humpy Dumpty if young

TheSpottedZebra · 21/02/2016 22:24

How old is your DD ?

Iguessyourestuckwithme · 21/02/2016 22:25

Captain underpants looks like a potato

BetteDavispies · 21/02/2016 22:26

Where's Wally? Just draw red and black stripes on it and some glasses on its eyes Grin

LineyReborn · 21/02/2016 22:27

How about Chip that dreadful Oxford Reading Tree character.

LIZS · 21/02/2016 22:27

Augustus Gloop?

TheSpottedZebra · 21/02/2016 22:28

Is this a real thing by the way? It sounds bonkers. I love it.

TheSpottedZebra · 21/02/2016 22:31

The snowman would be doable.
And I reckon you could do a Harry Potter easily with specs and a scar.

LIZS · 21/02/2016 22:31

The Gruffalo ?

Mumtogremlins · 22/02/2016 17:36

It is very real, unfortunately. DD is nearly 6 so past the toddler book stage. And not keen on boy characters!

Put/paint in red vest and make little ears and put in with cocktail sticks - Winnie the Pooh.

harryhausen · 22/02/2016 17:40

Make a yellow crown for 'Little Princess' by Tony across.

harryhausen · 22/02/2016 17:41

Tony Ross not across.

iklboo · 22/02/2016 17:53

Harry Potter-tato
Dorothy's dog from Wizard of Oz - Tato
The Spud Fairy

PerspicaciaTick · 22/02/2016 17:57

I'd mock up an accompanying Daisy Meadows style book cover and create "Tatum the Potato Fairy" by sticking a wand on the potato.

StitchesInTime · 22/02/2016 18:06

The chewing gum girl (Violet?) from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory after she turns into a giant blueberry.

mary21 · 22/02/2016 18:44

Clarice Bean?

AuntieStella · 22/02/2016 18:53

I've just googled for some varieties of potato.

How about Charlotte 's Web
Anna of Green Gables
Asterix
Julius Caesar
The Great Gatsby
Mutiny on the Bounty
Emma
anything by George Orwell
Casino Royale

Yesvember · 22/02/2016 18:55

Peel the skin into one long twizzly bit, attach it on to the potato with a drawing pin, draw a face on the potato = Rapunzel performing her letting down of the hair routine.

Mumtogremlins · 22/02/2016 19:09

Great ideas! You should suggest it at your schools Confused I'm not at all creative and thought they were taking the nick when the letter came home
She's keen on rapunzel as she knows the story and I'm thinking that can't be too hard

Pur lolly sticks into it to make a hedgehog and add a little cotton cap (a circle of cotton with some running stitches 1cm in to draw it up). Black ink eyes and nose.
Mrs Tiggywinkle!

Sgtmajormummy · 22/02/2016 19:24

"Put", sorry!

drwitch · 22/02/2016 19:24
