State primaries in Hammersmith & Fulham

Our ds is due to start school in Sept 2017 and we're starting to flap a bit about the lack of knowledge we have on local schools and what we have a hope in hell of getting into so I'm looking for some advice on where to start really!
We live just off Fulham Palace Road, past the hospital towards Putney and we have had him christened but not as yet been to church often.

Can anyone offer any opinions on what we have around us and the best things we can start doing now?
Some schools we have heard of are Melcombe, Queens Manor, West London Free School, Larmenier (Catholic), St Augustines (Catholic), St Pauls (Catholic).
Totally clueless and would be great to have some pointers - thank you!

I'm not local, but the children I know in your area have done very well at All Saints C of E Primary. It's oversubscribed, though, and they satisfied the faith criteria. Have you had a look at Findaschool to get a sense of what's available to you locally?

I am very local to you! And will try and post later, but St. Paul's, if you mean the one at Hammersmith, is C of E... think you're also near St Johns Walham Green? Will get back to you...

I'm also local to you but a year or so ahead of you with regard to schools. This is very much my own opinion.
Melcombe - very good on paper but no one I know wants their child to go there.
St Augustine's - very academic even from reception, no toys in the reception classroom but a nice outdoor environment. You must live in the parish & be catholic to stand any chance of getting in. Based on what the OP I don't think you are in the parish
Queen's Manor - love this school, they have chickens & a lovely nature area
St Thomas of Canterbury- another catholic school but much more varied than St Augustine, historically undersubscribed so not such an exclusive environment with many religions represented there. They have specialist music & arts tuition almost every day. Reception (and nursery) are in a newly built unit
St Paul's - I've heard v good things about this school, nursery & reception are mixed so a nice gentle introduction to formal schooling
Sir John Lillie - apparently much much improved recently

Go online to the council web site and see where offers were made near you. Otherwise you'll be looking at schools you have no chance of getting into as too far away.

I live next to melcombe and didnt bother looking around...looks run down to me and no ofsted since 2012 I think...Queen's manor will have amazing play areas and nature gardens since they got a recent govt cash injection...not sure of league table results seem lower than other schools, Larmenier is my first choice (shame they not have breakfast or after school clubs) amazing facilities, architecture, nurturing...not sure of St Thomas of Canterbury...havent put it down...have heard St John Lillie bit rough....liked All Saints but all female teachers....political head.....Holy cross parsons green is my second choice..dynamic aussie head...renovated lovely organised clean building...
