Advice on getting a private tutor??

Hiya

This is my first time on here and i am keen to see if anyone can give me some advice. I have a 5 year old son who is in Y1. Since he has started school he has difficulty with concentration and focus. I have had a number of meetings with the school teachers and as a result they requested for an educational psychologist to come and assess my son.

Unfortunately due to government cuts the assessment wasn't a full one and instead it was a quick assessment followed by a meeting with the assessor who wanted more input from us a parents.

moving forward, my son is falling behind in class and the teacher has mentioned to us getting a private tutor to help. This will given my son the one 2 one help he needs and focus on his phonics and maths. The school has started to provide one2one sessions for him but i dont think its enough.

Is anyone in a similar position? How do i go about finding a good, save tutor?

The teacher may well know someone. Or ask the other parents.
However, tutoring at year 2 is something I feel very hmm about as the children are still very young and many catch up with time. It's not something I, or my colleagues, would ever recommend until year 5...

Oops, just re-read. Definitely wouldn't advise it at y1 level!
It would be better to get the school to refer you to an educational centre and pay privately for a proper ed psych and recommendations. They're still so, so young though!
