Is there anybody on here from Andrell Education or anybody with a lot of experience of using Big Maths who would be kind enough to answer a specific query?

Thank you. My child has been stuck on the same level for months consistently getting 9 out of 10. How could I get them to progress?

My DD does this, each week they bring home the test for next week to work on at home. We practice occasionally a lot and it seems to help if we do it regularly.

Thanks. Our school does not send home the test. Our child has for maybe 8-10 weeks been getting 9 out of 10 but always makes a mistake somewhere

From looking at my child's test, the more practise they do at the times tables will help them and also checking the question - is it an add or a multiply because they are mixed up on the test sheet. Also knowing their doubles because there are quite a few x2. Also, the numbers that make up 10 as there are some of those as well.

Yes, sorry. I've not seen the CLIC test that she does but I expect much of the same stuff would be useful? A quick google of CLIC Maths tests came up with some online copies.

Thanks again but the school uses the new set of clic tests which I can't find anywhere online.

The dc's school uses click and big maths. I've got the free Math Workout app on my android phone and the dc's hudls and they practice on that. I think you need to pay for higher levels but you can practice times tables for free and there's some quick fire mental arithmetic on there. It's really helped my dc's.

The new LearnIt and CLIC tests aren't available on line and cost £50 to purchase.

Without knowing which test I'm afraid it's not possible to tell you what the questions are.

Question 1 partitioning a two digit number into tens and ones (units)

62 is 60 and 2

Question 2 ordering numbers
Question 3 missing number in a number sequence eg 10, 12, , 16, 18
Question 3 missing number eg 150, 160, 170, , 190,200
Question 4 circle odd/even numbers
Question 6 fact family addition and subtraction
Question 7 adding a single digit number to a two digit number
Question 8 adding a single digit number to a two digit number crossing ten
Question 9 subtracting a single digit number from a two digit number
Question 10 subtracting a single digit number from a two digit number crossing ten

It doesn't make sense to me to keep her from moving on when she is getting 9 all the time. Surely this shows understanding

Because each question is testing something different it's important that they get 10/10 three consecutive weeks

But it is not the same question wrong each week. It varies she is just making silly mistakes. So perhaps 8 times out of 10 she has had each question correct

It's the same type of question but not the same question (a different set are used each week) which shows she's not secure in this aspect of maths. Does she know which question she's getting wrong?

She is not having the same type wrong each week she is having alapse of concentration on any random question

Then I'm afraid the answer is that she must learn to focus for the few minutes it takes to complete the test. If there was a particular type of question she was struggling with it would be much easier to address than "carelessness"
I certainly wouldn't recommend spending £50 to buy the tests as it won't solve the underlying problem.
