New primary uniform next week

DC's primary school is next week switching from polos to proper shirts with ties which are optional. With same swestshirt, but what is the best way to wear this?

DS, 9 and DD, 10 like the new uniform but is there much point wearing ties if they can't be seen? If not, and they wear open neck shirts, are the collars better under or over the sweatshirts?

Ours switched to shirt ant ties but the tie was not optional. They also have a v necked jumper so the tie can be seen although neither of mine wore a jumper much (just when it's really cold!). Collar would probably look smarter over rather than tucked in

Ties must be worn if sweatshirt is not worn, so it may be better to wear ties anyway. The tie may be visible if top button is done up, otherwise it would be quite loose so not seen at all
