Costume help needed! Roman footwear by Monday?

I am a very disorganised mother and need something/anything resembling Roman footwear (dd will be a Roman centurion) by Monday - what can I get on the high street and where to fit this bill?

Flip flops and tie ribbons/laces round the feet and up the legs a bit to make them look like gladiator sandals.

or... if you have any old boxes, cut "soles" from cardboard, punch holes in the side and tie laces through and up/around her feet. won't serve to walk any distance but will look reasonably authentic.
