In few weeks we will be moving to Langstone Ley and was wondering if anyone had any advice on good schools we have a 5 and 3 year old. We have been told Pangshanger and Springmead are the best one. Anyone has and advise to help us. Thanks

Welcome to Welwyn Garden City. For that side of town then, yes, Springmead and Panshanger would generally be regarded as the better schools. However, schools in the area are generally oversubscribed so, as your eldest is already beyond school starting age, you would initially be allocated a place at the nearest school with spaces, which is likely to be Peartree. You can contact the council and ask for a list of all schools that have spaces (likely to be short) and ask for one of those and also ask to be put on the waiting lists for your preferred schools. I'm sure someone with more expertise will explain this in more detail. For your 3 old, Attimore Barn pre-school is fairly close. If they were three before the end of August, then primary school applications have already opened and need to be completed by some time in January I think. If they start at one of your preferred schools then your eldest would be very high up the waiting list as a sibling.

I wouldn't be keen on Peartree (friend taught there and they've been under special measures) but Springmead is well regarded. I've only visited it but it seems nice and airy and attractive too.
