Read Write Inc

DD is in yr1 and has been bringing home lime band books which she can read with ease.

School has now started to introduce read write inc, and the books just seem so simple and uninspiring. She is being given level 5 rwi books and has to read each one every night for a week.

Even after completing the quiz elements and speed reading, there is just no challenge.

In an ideal world I would get her to read additional library books, or home books to keep her interest up, but time is a real issue.

Will rwi become more challenging? I really don't want DD to start losing interest.

Not sure why the books are being sent home. We set the tasks you've mentioned above in class. Its all about reading with a partner and then completing associated writing tasks to do with the book which by the sounds of it you're not completing at home. What colour books is she on?

No, RWI doesn't become more challenging.
