Levels to be replaced with TITS

Not really, but this is pretty amusing:

And I can see this sort of nonsense already happening. Levels being replaced with a like-levels system which is more complex and even more useless at measuring actual progress than levels ever were.

Teacher workload will increase, parental understanding will decrease.

I really don't see how children can be monitored for progress and parents kept informed without using any criteria whatsoever by which to judge this. When I was at school in the 50s & 60s we were marked out of 10. As far as I can see, that is just another way of expressing a 'level'.

The only difference between now and then seems to be that 'then' the judgement of where a child was at was completely that of the teachers; whereas 'now' it is decided by a set of criteria imposed from above and expected to be universally implemented.

(It's a very funny blog piece, though Grin)
