SOS primary schools in hillingdon

Hi im about to submit application form to LA and need to choose 6 schools in hillingdon and have no idea which ones are great and which ones are good any advice would be really appreciated her dad is suggesting private schooling but im not so keen and we have no friends with kids to get advice from

It depends on where you live... or if you apply to faith school... you will be allocated your closest school.

Whereabouts in the borough are you? That will make a huge difference to where it is realistically worth you applying.
Also have you been to see any schools?
I had a top 3 and struggled to decide which order to put them in because they all had strengths & weaknesses.
Everyone I know last year got their first choice Uxbridge, Ickenham & Ruislip - there seems to have been some forward planning in the expansion of school places which means that issues you read in the press don't seem to affect us.

Im fall under the borders of west drayton /hillingdon so not sure were going to a couple of open says but want to narrow it down as most of the sessions are during the working hours so hard to get time off what would you recommend or not

I don't know West Drayton schools at all so can't help you there. I'm between Hillingdon & Uxbridge so can give you my opinions on Hillingdon but it's hearsay plus 1 or 2 people I know. Am ignoring faith schools, and assuming you can read ofsted/look at results yourself.

Highfield - Old info & don't know currently with expanded intake but used to be a lovely small school & good standard.
Hillingdon Primary - not as good in reality as on paper/ofsted
Colham Manor - I hadn't heard good things but went to children's centre & it looked really nice. Kids looked happy. I know someone who was starting in Sept and really liked it.
Oak Farm - lovely but oversubscribed & you need to live v close
Ryefield - know a couple of people who took a while to settle but were really happy here.

Depending on logistics and your views on going local you could look further afield to the schools like John Locke (great site & head & not heard anyone say anything bad about it & likely to get ofsted outstanding) who will probably have spaces because it's still new.

If I were you I would look at the schools I stood a realistic chance of getting in based on where you live & go to see top 3 to decide your order.

None Of the schools are great.

They're all massively overcrowded.

They've opened a new school in west Drayton. St martins I think? I'd probably go for that.

Otherwise you have west Drayton, cherry lane, St Matthews (I think),or cowley.

Your only private option is St Helen which is. A selective school. And quite nasty.

Another option is John Locke in Uxbridge which is also new.

Any one heard of glebe primary school ? Or any feedback on john locke there dosnt seem to be any ofsted or results

Whats the staff like how does the school perform hows your daughter settled in etc

Staff are great... Very friendly and caring... The eyfs is outstanding. Sat results one of the top in the local area... Excellent facilities... And dd loves it there... We came from a different school nursery which was also outstanding... But my dd prefers this school more... We are very lucky to have got a place...I think this school will become one of the top in the borough very soon...

Put in your postcode and you can see the catchment area of all the schools in Hillingdon based on the furthest away child who got a place for each year. Some of the catchments are tiny. I think you will struggle to get a place in many further away schools unless they are new or unpopular as most of them are full.

If you don't mind a faith school, Holy Trinity Northwood.
