No transfer list?

We are in the process of looking at independent schools and some readily make their transfer list available with sufficient detail. Others simply say "proven track record of getting children into xyz". If they don't provide a detailed transfer list is it a sign of an academically weaker school? Can you request it or is that not the done thing?

It's a question I never thought to ask I chise a school based on how well I thought it suited my children.

But the junior school they went to feeds into their senior school anyway b

But how do you choose a school that suits the individual child when that child is barely 3!? It's not as if he's already expressing a particular flair for maths or English. He has a fondness for biscuits and soft play.

It probably helps that dh is a teacher who used to visit lots of schools but you get a feel for the ethos of a school.

At age 3 we already knew dd was bright, loved music & dance & enjoyed talking about things. Similarly we knew Ds had less confidence but loved books. We knew we wanted a school that valued sports & the arts as much as academics & was nurturing.

I feel the same as you Mrbrowncanmoo. We are after a school that has good transfer results IF our son is academic. So far, yes, he's engaged, independent and curious. We have a very academic family so I wouldn't be surprised if he follows suit but that said my focus is on him being happy and fulfilled. So, did you then rule out schools that wouldn't give you a detailed transfer list? We currently have offers from 2 preps and 1 preprep. I'm trying narrow down the list a bit and understand what I'm getting and this seems to be an area of discrepancy between the schools. One of the schools seems to be feeder (only by word of mouth) to the most academic senior school near us so I suppose I'm puzzled why they wouldn't publish the list.
