Prep schools in and around Sevenoaks

Hi there. We are currently looking at prep schools in and around Sevenoaks with a view to our children hopefully passing the 11+ and getting into a grammar (asking the impossible?!). We've been told to focus our minds on schools that go up to 11 years old rather than 13, as only those schools will focus on the 11+. Just wondering what people think and whether you have any school recommendations? TIA

Well I think the only up to 11 prep in Sevenoaks is Russell House in Otford? The others are all to 13 or part of an all through school. I'm not familiar with any of the school's south of Sevenoaks though.

Girls or boys?
Girls to 11 is easier....Granville or Wally Hall
Boys harder as the schools tend to go to 13
Mixed - Fosse bank

There's also Combe bank who are now mixed. We looked around and they seem to prepare children for the 11+ exam and have an 11+ club whereas wally hall were very open about the fact they did no specific preparation for the 11+ and many of the girls don't take it and go on to their senior school. Granville is very academic and has a bit of a reputation for being quite pressurised and getting good results. If you don't discount the ones going higher up the school then there's st Michaels and Sevenoaks prep (the latter has an excellent reputation).
