Any current parents there? Please share experiences. I have been to open day. It all seemed very relaxed and casual. It reminded me more of state school than prep school! What school did your dd go onto. How are the academics/sports/drama etc. Thanks in advance.

OP, you surely must be aware Bute's the most sought-after girls' prep in London and the girls mainly go on to St Paul's and Godolphin. My dc got in, we didn't send them there, but it's undoubtedly a very good school, "state school" atmosphere or no (which wasn't my impression!)

Am I thinking of another school or Is there still a ballot for places there? If so, rumour has it you will need to be chauffeuring the kids to school and have a swimming pool in the basement to get a place ;-) No offence intended nowirehangers!

There's a ballot at 4, exam at 7 which is when my kids tried and despite lack of swimming pool etc they somehow got through . We didn't take the places, so no idea if that's true of other families

is anyone taking the Bute House and Lady Eleanor exam at 7 plus?
I registered for both but it seems that the exams are on the same day?

Schools usually have a reserve exam day (for those with clashes or who are ill). You'll need to ring both and hope one will move you.

Bute House is easily the best girls prep in this part of London or possibly even the whole of London! I am surprised at your impression of the school. Most parents will do anything to get their girls in and every year girls from other very good schools e.g. Thomas's, Glendower and Garden House sit the 7+ to transfer to Bute. Unfortunately we were too late to enter the 4+ ballot. There are a couple of website you may find helpful:

Knightsbridge Village is a gated online community just for Ken & Chelsea mums. There are lots of parents in the network who actually have kids at Bute and other prep schools in the borough so you can find informed insider info from mums rather than hearsay. Have to pay to subscribe so only worth joining if you live locally.
