Hello mums,
It looks like we are having to move house at the beginning of december and I need to put in an application for a place at a local primary school for my son who will start reception next year.
A friend suggested that I might need a proof of address several months BEFORE the application deadline (jan 15th) otherwise I will end up being bottom of the list and possibly getting a place far away etc.
Can somebody shed some light ? I am getting concerned.
Thanks a lot

I think you should check your local councils guidelines on this.

Where I live, it is the address at the time of application that counts, so the address you're in on the Jan 15th deadline. Proof of address is only required if the school you're allocated is oversubscribed, and our council say that they check electoral records and council tax records as a starting point.

This information is given in the Primary School Admissions Brochure that can be downloaded from my council's website. You should check if your council has a similar brochure that gives guidelines of what proofs of address will be required.

I don't think so - I think only matters that you live there at deadline date (and its your only home etc) but if you check the admissions policy for the borough you are applying to it should say?
