Taking things to school - reception

My DS has just started reception and has had a couple of pieces of 'homework' e.g bring in a photo of him reading a book for them to discuss.
Their first topic is transport, and this weekend we went to a museum and took photos of old trains which he is keen to show his teacher.
Is it the done thing to send some in his book bag? I was thinking I'd write a short caption with each so maybe the class could discuss the photos.
Do you think the teacher would appreciate it or would I just look like an overly keen parent?!

The teacher would very much appreciate it :). It's great when the parents really get behind your topic.
