Hi,

I have been searching online and am confusedConfused so looking for some advice. My daughter was born May 2013 and is currently 2 years 4 months. When do I start applying for schools? And am I correct in thinking it's all done through councils now, there's no such thing as putting their names down at the school? (So much conflicting 'advice' from parents, in laws, Google lol) Lastly, if one of the schools I want to apply for is in a different county, do I still apply through my county council for it?

Thanks for any helpSmile I'm off to take a paracetamol Grin

BTW, we're in Wales if that makes any difference?

I'm in England but here you apply via the council's website admissions webpages. No experience of applying across authority boundaries, but instructions were given on the same website.

For the preschool attached to the school though, we applied to the school direct and could put their name down after age 1

If you were in England then working backwards you have:
She will turn 5 in May 2018
So she will start school academic year starting Sept 2017
So you have to apply by 15th(?) January 2017
So you need to look at schools in Autumn 2016.

In England you apply to your LA even if a school you list is over a boundary.

Pre-schools you go direct to.

No idea how different Wales is, apart from the fact some schools teach in Welsh.
