I'm so excited - appropriate or not?

Hi I'm doing a writing lesson tomorrow with a group of children aged 8-10. We are focusing on writing the tricky middle bit of their own story which they have been working on.
They have a plan and written the opening. They have acted out their story middles and this week will write their story middles up to the climax. I am going to give them all an 'excite-ometer' to colour as they go along to focus on the build up/rising action idea. In showing them the 'excite-ometer' I was going to play them the Pointer Sisters track, but just checked you tube and wondering if lyrics are a bit saucy.
As parents of this age group would you be ok with it or am I over thinking? I could just play Crunchie ad which just has some of lyrics.
Thanks people!!!:)

No idea. Can you write the lyrics here?

Tonight's the night we're gonna make it happen
Tonight we'll put all other things aside
Give in this time and show me some affection
We're goin' for those pleasures in the night
I want to love you
Feel you
And wrap myself around you
I want to squeeze you
Please you
I just can't get enough
And if you move real slow
I'll let it go

I'm so excited
And I just can't hide it
I'm about to lose control and I think I like it
I'm so excited
And I just can't hide it
And I know
I know
I know
I know
I know
I want you
I want you

We shouldn't even think about tomorrow
Sweet memories will last a long, long time
We'll have a good time baby don't you worry
And if we're still playin' around
Boy that's just fine

Let's get excited
We just can't hide it
No, no, no
I'm about to lose control and I think I like it
I'm so excited
And I just can't hide it
I know
I know
I know
I know
I want you
I want you

I want to love you
Feel you
Wrap myself around you
I want to squeeze you
Please you
I just can't get enough
And if you move real slow
I'll let it go

I'm so excited
And I just can't hide it
I'm about to lose control and I think I like it
I'm so excited
And I just can't hide it
And I know
I know
I know
I know
I know
I want you
I want you

I'm so excited
Look what you do to me
I just can't hide it
You got me burning up
I'm about to lose control and I think I like it
I'm so excited
I know I want you
I'm so excited
Look what you do to me
You got me burning up
I think I like it...

Well I guess the " I'm so excited, and I just can't hide it, I'm about to lose control and I think I like it" bit is ok - it would go over children's heads anyway!...I don't know the rest so can't comment!

TwllBach · 28/09/2015 19:38

I'd be blushing like crazy singing that in my class, especially the feel you, squeeze you, wrap myself around you bit!! GrinGrin

OK just seen the rest. Definitely only use the snippet I mentioned!

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 28/09/2015 19:42

I think it's fine, my dc are older than that now, but I wouldn't have batted an eyelid. It's such a motivating song, I always take the "I'm so excited..." As an excitement about life in general.

Emochild · 28/09/2015 19:46

We did an aerobics routine to that song when we were in year 8

Didn't think anything of it at the time but can remember hearing it at a 'retro' nightclub when I was a student, and thinking 'what was my PE teacher thinking????'

Pipbin · 28/09/2015 19:50

They used to use it to sell crunchies. I wouldn't worry at all.

maisiechain · 28/09/2015 19:52

I could just do the Crunchie ad which only has the bit 'Im so excited and I just can't hide it, Im about to loose control and I think I like it' kind of repeated over and over with a crunchie bar on a rollercoaster. Think Im safe with that.
Kind of thought kids might jump up from their seats when they reach that part in their story and the excite-ometer gets to the top.....well that's the picture in my head right now.
The kids are well used to my lessons being a bit loopy, but really don't want to upset parents!

...jump up from their seats and we can sing chorus part............

This song was playing when I had my first real proper snog. Way back when "snog" was an acceptable word Grin

Very exciting!

maisiechain · 28/09/2015 19:59

I'm from the "snog" generation too! :D

Defo decided to go for Crunchie version, and maybe I won't actually get up on chairs and sing it or anything........!

Thanks:)

As the parent of an 8 year old, I'd not be chuffed for her to be learning the verses. The chorus is fine, I think.

TeenAndTween · 28/09/2015 20:16

Oh duh Biscuit to myself.
I thought you were excited about your lesson plan, didn't realise it was the song you were referring to. Blush

maisiechain · 29/09/2015 08:49

Thinking of taking it out all together now! Will still do an excite-ometer but might not bother with the song. Thanks all! Decided not to risk offence:)
