DS1 is two. We live near Swiss Cottage. Thanks to DH he is registered for Arnold House and the Hall. However I know both of those schools are over subscribed and very selective (I have also heard from some people that the Hall has a bullying problem, but no idea if that is true). Where else should I look?

Having been very laid back I am now worrying I have left it too late to get on the list anywhere else!

DH and I are both academic, but I think it is too soon to know whether DS will be, so just looking for a stimulating environment where they will challenge and nurture in equal measure. And ideally is close to us!

Any ideas?

Trevor Roberts, Heathside, Phoenix, King Alfred's..

TiesThatBind · 28/09/2015 16:57

Haven't I left it too late for those? I heard TR needed registration at birth and only takes ten boys a year...

King Alfred's is not for us, but I will look at Heathside and Phoenix, thank you!

Yes, in theory with TR but there are always exceptions, if you visit and love it and they love you then AFAIK if you suck up make friends with admissions staff and keep begging checking on status then you will get on a list.

Hereward house? North bridge house?

HeartsTrumpDiamonds · 28/09/2015 19:41

Try Hereward House - lovely little school.
Phoenix definitely.

Will PM you.

Thank you all - that is really helpful.

I will definitely look at Hereward, sounds like it might be exactly what we are looking for.

It seems ridiculous to get so worried about primary school. Rationally I think he will be fine wherever he goes - that his innate character and how we support him at home will count for more than anything else. And yet it is hard to avoid the hysteria.

Also don't discount state, most are great - if you are in catchment for Fitzjohns for example, it's very good. Go and have a look around and get a feel for all of them.

Thanks - I have had a look at the LEA website but tbh haven't got to grips with the admissions code. Pretty sure we aren't in the Fitzjohns catchment but I will try to find out for sure.
