Hi, We are applying for my DS 's entry to shell(reception) in Lanesborough and would appreciate if someone can guide us what specifically they assess on and how to prepare him to maximise chances of getting in? Thanks

Our DS completed the reception assessment last year. From what I could extract from him (!) it was very play based and he really enjoyed himself. I think they listened to a story and a little craft.

I don't think there is much you could do to prepare for it other than make him feel comfortable heading into a new environment without mum or dad.

Lanesborough Shell assessment may appear play-based to some children, but unless they fundamentally changed it in the last few year, it's actually based on a standardised psychometric test. If you read the 4+ threads you will have a pretty good idea about what is involved. It can actually be quite daunting and it's not uncommon for some children to get upset, so agree that developing social confidence is important. However, DS had a big wobble at the Shell assessment but is now happy in the prep department Smile
