Teacher does not acknowledge communication from home; is this normal?

My Dd is in year 6. I have a perfectly amicable relationship with her class teacher and she is a regular, happy, achieving student. However whenever I have sent in any communication through my child's parent/ teacher book I have not had any acknowledgement.
Is this normal or should I expect something back from him?
Frustrated at the moment because it is something quite important that I have written to him about.

Our teachers always sign the diary if they are sent a communication from home (even if it's not particularly something that needs acknowledgement). I would suspect the teacher has not seen your notes (at DD's school she has to proactively show her diary to the teacher).

When do they hand the book in? Is there a specific day they look at them, surely not every day?

Send in a letter in an envelope instead maybe?

It would depend entirely on what it was about. X has got a doctor's appointment tomorrow I wouldn't acknowledge. X is having friendship issues with so and so I would. Just call the school or send in a proper note in an envelope.
Is it an actual communication book (ime unusual in y6) or a planner that is predominantly for the kids to use?

Sorry, I have been away from the computer! The original letter was in an envelope and addressed to the teacher.
It was about some reading material that dd had been assigned which I felt was inappropriate for her age and was upsetting her.
The teacher has reassigned reading material, so has obviously seen the letter and kindly taken on board my concerns, but just not acknowledged receipt of the letter from me, IYSWIM!
My dd is in dual year group class so has been with teacher for previous year also.

he responded to your concern and has acted on it. is that not enuf? The beginning of a new school year is amazingly busy.

What do you want him to say? He's probably assuming that you can see he's acted upon your request and changed her book. Sorted.

If he was ignoring the problem I would understand your frustration but as it has been resolved I don't really see an issue.

Great that the teacher has changed the material, but I certainly understand why OP is confused about not having had a response. Seems a bit odd to me too.

But OP has had a response - the reading material has been changed. Odd to think that a letter/phone call/email is needed to tell the parent of a change in reading material that is so obvious when child comes home with changed reading material. It's a waste of teacher time.
