Can anyone explain - the school have told us very little, and Parentmail's website doesn't explain:

This new Parentmail PMX App - do text messages come via the app? I mean - schools using these apps, do they no longer sent out proper text messages?

If so, and the school closes early because its snowing, and a parent isn't connected to a data connection all day, how do they receive notification that they need to come and pick their children up? Does the school have to start ringing up parents like the old days? Sort of defeats the point of text messages.

you still get the text message, but you also get a notifcation on the app of the text message!

Thanks for that. The school don't know, and there's no information on Parentmail's website about how the thing actually works. Why they have to muck about with something that works fine I don't know....

yw

we've been on it for the last 6mo, they're supposed to be making the absence reporting live this term, but they haven't yet.

Best use for me so far has been for booking the parents evenings, i'm terrible at remembering to take the forms back in!

Well, the first newsletter of the year has now been issued..... on paper!!!! Obviously either the school, parents, or both, haven't figured out this new Parentmail thing..... They should have just left it as it was.
