OP -

Try not to worry and fret, and try and ENJOY the experiences of all the new things she will learn and be able to do!

Your 'little baby' is still there - just not quite so little now!

Maybe keep a diary or journal of things she does at school, so you can always look back and think of the (hopefully) good times, and perhaps share with her when she is (much) older, You have twenty years or more of progress, change, and new experiences ahead for both (all) of you, so treat it as a learning experience for all involved, and try to enjoy (most) of it.

[Should you have any specific concerns in the future, come back to me, as I worked in primary schools as a TA for twenty-five years.]

Hello Smile

My DD2 starts on Monday and I'm in bits. This is dd2; I've done this before as and yet this feels harder as she's my baby. I was excited for dd1 and of course I still had dd2 to occupy me.

I can't stay at home and sob as I have to go to work. I've warned my boss I might be in a state and he has promised he will be on standby to go buy biscuits on my arrival.

Waves to reastie & tad hope you're both well, and waves to everyone else with reception starters.

Just dropped DD off for her first morning, just until midday this week, so only a few hours really. First parenting fail as I didn't send a snack as on the taster day they got given fruit, and they will again today, but apparently everyone else has registered on the schoolpay website for toast and bagels etc. so I've just done that now but hope she's not traumatised this morning.

She seems totally fine though, they all just followed their teacher off out of the hall without looking back. She knows about 5 kids in her class from nursery anyway so it's not all completely new, and the intake is only 17.

So, first drop off easy peasy, let's see how pick up and the rest of the week goes!

Hi everyone, it's my ds's first day tomorrow, although he's only there for 1hr 25 mins so not even half a day. My son has suspected additional needs so I have mixed feelings about him starting school. He's not moving up with any of his nursery friends as we decided on a different school so he'll know no one:(

Hope those who started today had a great day!
And Flowers for those who start tomorrow Grin

Erinn I am feeling the same as you. DS is being assessed for HFA. He will be in a class with 10 boys and I worry he may isolate himself very quickly as his social skills aren't developed for his age.

ihearttc · 03/09/2015 12:48

DS2 starts tomorrow. He goes full time straight away so will be there from 8.45-3pm.

He is more than ready-been in school nursery for 18 months as he has a November birthday. I was completely calm about the whole thing until yesterday!

Twolefttoes · 03/09/2015 13:41

Hope all those that started today went off ok. My ds was fine and went off without a backwards glance, I dissolved in to tears once I got outside. Probably did the worst thing possible when I got home and tidied his room, came across all sorts of baby related things. Was quite nice and poignant in a way though.

Itching for it to be 3:05!

Deliaskis · 03/09/2015 16:44

Aaww good luck to all those on first days today, hope they are all fine.

DD was on second morning today, and just ran off with a wave and a smile. She did great yesterday although couldn't tell me what she had done, but she had managed to overcome the fact that I had failed to provide a snack when everybody else had one, which 6 months ago would have had her in tears! I'm now fully signed up with parentpay and have ordered snacks for her for this week and next. This was the sort of stuff that wasn't very clear in our intro paperwork!

So many big steps in just a few days!

Reastie · 03/09/2015 18:39

Yay delia, that's great she went in so well. Dd came out this afternoon very happy, so I hope she'll feel more confident going in tomorrow and will settle down quickly.

Glad that it sounds like some good first days ????
DD went in without a backwards glance, she does have her big brother in the same class to look after her though, so I knew she would be fine Blush
She told me quite a lot and seemed quite happy when she got home ????

LovelyFriend · 03/09/2015 21:40

DD2 started yesterday and she is loving it. There are only about 8 kids in the class so far as they are doing gradual starts. It is next to her old nursery so not completely foreign.

she wanted packed lunches the same as DD1 (who is Y3 and pushed hard to have packed lunches now dinners aren't free). After 2 packed lunches DD2 has now said she will have school dinners as I'm not putting pudding esp custard into her packed lunches. Yay - a win for me.

DD2 looks so cute in her uniform.

LovelyFriend · 03/09/2015 21:41

best thing about school = making a mouse today.
worst thing = packed lunch with no pudding!

AugustRose · 04/09/2015 14:00

Hope things are going well for all those who have started, we still have 5 days to wait but am not too concerned this time - 4th time round :)
