Naming black school shoes that are also black inside?

sleeplessbunny · 26/08/2015 10:55

Just bought school shoes for DD who starts reception next week. They are black (obv) but the lining is also black. No labels or anywhere sensible to mark them with her name. What do wise mnetters do in this situation?

TIA

blob of tippex with initials on?

MargaretSchlegel · 26/08/2015 10:57

I used nail varnish to paint an initial on the sole. Hope someone else will be along soon with a better idea for me to steal.

imjustahead · 26/08/2015 10:58

back or side of heel area, not on the toe Smile

MackerelOfFact · 26/08/2015 11:04

I was going to say just write in on the insole with a Tipp-Ex pen. It should dry flat and be waterproof. Otherwise, you can buy permanent markers intended for pub blackboards and the like which would work.

Helenluvsrob · 26/08/2015 11:06

Sticky labels. You can get " shoe labels" but I have some " stick to anything" ones for my dad ( care home) that also stick to clothing labels which is ace!

sleeplessbunny · 26/08/2015 11:08

ah, tipp ex pen. Great idea. will get one. :-)

Investing in a set of Stikins (£6 for 30) is well worth it IMO.

I label DSs shoes and wellies at the heel so he can see his name in a line of similar shoes/ boots. They also stick well to book bags, PE bags, water bottles- you name it really.

I do all of DSs clothes with them too- saves a lot of time and the labels have so far survived a year's worth of washes.

The problem with a lot of sticky labels is that the type wears off with use. We use easy2name and they offer transparent shoe labels that you stick over the normal label to prevent this.

sunnydayinmay · 26/08/2015 20:18

Easy2name lables have always worked for us.

AuditAngel · 26/08/2015 20:24

I use Stuckonyou.biz shoe labels. Rather than Tippex I have used a gold or silver pen in the past.

I used fabric plasters they work a treat.
Cut to size, stretch and stick.
Check every week and re label if necessary. They do stay on far longer than those stickers which cost 3x as much.

hibbleddible · 26/08/2015 23:13

I used my name tags, which can be stuck inside shoes, on water bottles etc

trinity0097 · 27/08/2015 07:44

Sew a name tape to the inside of the flap

AsTimeGoesBy · 27/08/2015 07:48

Easy2Name stickers and label covers for us, they've generally lasted the lifetime of the shoes.

bruffin · 27/08/2015 07:55

I used these which are brilliant and stick to anything
even used the small ones one drink bottles etc and they survived washing up.

NotSoDesperateHousewife · 27/08/2015 07:58

We bought these last year, one pack per child, they also do covers for shoe stickers and they lasted all year. We didn't buy any this year as we had loads left from last year! None of the stickers of bottles/lunch boxes/bags etc ever gave up either. Bargain at £10 per child.

wonkylegs · 27/08/2015 08:21

We've got TinyMe shoe labels (I've got a mixed set of their labels) we've been using them since nursery and DS is now in KS2 and they've always stayed put and clear.

LaughingHyena · 27/08/2015 10:24

Bought a pack of metallic sharpies last year. The silver in particular shows up well on black.

They seem to be on offer in a lot of the back to school sales at the moment too.

Gileswithachainsaw · 27/08/2015 10:27

Clarks sell shoe naming stickers. always used those without any problem

Jollyphonics · 27/08/2015 10:35

I also use the Clarks ones, and I stick them in with superglue just to be sure.

fleurdelacourt · 27/08/2015 11:29

sticky name labels. been using them for 7 years and never had one peel off yet.

can get some pretty ones for littler people.

softhedgehog · 27/08/2015 11:33

Agree with shoe labels - I get name labels from easy2name and got the shoe covers to name my daughter's black PE plimsolls, name label still there at the end of the term!

Sew name tape to back of tongue

That's one way not to lose your child but don't they find it difficult to talk? Grin
