Burgundy coloured hair bands for school?

Where can you get burgundy coloured hair bands for school? I've got some before from Amazon but they are pretty rubbish - not very stretchy, so they start slipping out of my DD's hair. EBay seems to seek the same brand as Amazon. All the high street shops seem only to have red, not burgundy.

Anyone know a good place?

Try a school uniform shop.

LibrariesGaveUsP0wer · 22/08/2015 14:43

Gosh. is she not allowed brown or black? How infuriating. Smile

Wigeon · 22/08/2015 14:51

Do you mean a specialist school uniform shop? I've tried the school uniform sections of BhS, M&S, Asda etc.

She is actually allowed any colour hair bands she likes, but the school jumper is burgundy and I think she looks cute with matching burgundy hair bands in her blonde hair. I've just got it into my head that surely there must be some decent quality burgundy hair bands somewhere!!

Clearly, the world is not going to fall in if she has any other colour. And I don't think she cares - this is all me! Just wondered if anyone had tracked these elusive products down!

School outfitters usually have them. Claires sometimes have some things in burgundy.

PennilynLott · 22/08/2015 15:03

I think primark do a mixed set with some burgundy in. They're good quality. I'll have any black ones you don't use.

Wigeon · 22/08/2015 15:06

Just googled school outfitter so and came up with a place which supplied a bunch of v posh schools - Harrow etc. it's half full of boaters and blazers, but does do maroon hair bands! A steal at £2.90. Delivery £5.50 though - not sure I care that much about getting them!

Just off to google Primark - we have one locally.

Do thin black ones underneath to hold the hair and then put the burgundy ones on top to look nice.

Wigeon · 22/08/2015 15:11

Ah - genius idea to use thin bands to do the pony tail / bunch itself, then cover with the thicker burgundy one! Yes!

Was getting frustrated that something so minor and trivial - a quest for a particular kind of hair band - was turning out to be so difficult!

Limited hair bands on Primark's website so I'll pop in there next time I am in town. Hadn't actually tried them (on the basis I thought it would be all glittery / fancy hair accessories)

Thank you for the help. Smile

Ah. An optional hunt. Fair enough. Smile

Use normal black ones then get a burgundy scrunchie. Dancewear shops often do them.

Try John Lewis?

PettsWoodParadise · 22/08/2015 18:47

DD's uniform is burgundy too, I found the little zipped clear packets they do in school outfitters the best colour match. They usually include the small fat fluffed up ones which we don't use but like you most places seem to do red but not burgundy so we just throw those ones or recycle as bands for packets of cards. School shop on site has scrunchies in both the summer and winter uniform, they looked cute in lower years but apparently just not suitable for Y6.

Pooseyfrumpture · 22/08/2015 18:55

There's loads on ebay. Try searching for maroon hair accessories too.

EasyFromNowOn · 22/08/2015 21:17

Sainsbury's sometimes have these, they have different colours in some branches because there's local demand. One of the ones near me stocks them now but you have to buy enough to last the year because they don't tend to keep them in.

Wigeon · 22/08/2015 22:05

Ah ha - that Perry Uniform place is great! They seem to do the hair bands in little transparent cases which PettsWood mentions - have ordered them - thank you balletgirlmum.

bin85 - did try John Lewis but they only had red, green or blue. Poosey - eBay seems to only have the same brand as the ones I got on Amazon which are cheap and not stretchy enough.

I am sure we will all await the delivery of the hair bands with bated breath - will they arrive in time for the start of the school term? Will they be stretchy enough? Will they be a good colour or murky reddy brown? The suspense is building!

I have to use Perry's for ds's uniform. They aren't bad as uniform suppliers go.

teeththief · 23/08/2015 10:37

How old is your DD OP? Our uniform is a hard to find colour when it comes to hairbands too. We ended up buying black bands and then I took DD to the local material shop and bought different ribbons in the matching colour to tie around her pigtails/ponytail! She won't let me out ribbon in her hair now she's in year 4 but used to love choosing different designs in the matching colour, and at about 40p a metre, I didn't mind her choosing a fair few different ones!

Bin85 · 23/08/2015 15:44

Saw various Burgundy hair accessories in Accessorize today and thought of you.

LockedOutOfMN · 23/08/2015 15:47

Try H&M; they have many different colours.

Also chemists tend to stock those kind of random things. (You might have to try a few before you get lucky...whenever you pass one, pop in and have a look).

I spotted some in BHS a few days ago, ponytail bands with ribbons attached.
